With the in-depth promotion of cultural production and of the process of consumption globalization, the globalization of Chinese periodicals is bound to be in the spotlight of the world publishing industry. In China, the emergence and development of bilingual periodicals, with their mixed Chinese and foreign audiences, makes a breakthrough in the globalization of Chinese periodicals. From the mode construction angle, the dissertation makes an analysis as to the blending cultural characteristics of the communicators and audiences and the interactive relationships in the cross-cultural communication in the information transmission process of bilingual periodicals. The dissertation then makes further studies on the information re-encoding process aiming at cultural docking, and comes up with suggestions of"attention to universal subjects"and"emphases on cultural differences"taking into consideration of the actual practice of bilingual periodicals. The cross-cultural characteristics embodied in the publishing process of bilingual periodical Wings of China provide hard evidence for the transmission mode of bilingual periodicals.
