Color plays an extremely important role in every aspect of our life. That is to say, our full and varied world cannot exist without color. As modern science and technology develops and people have a need for life and production, especially in the field of textile,dyeing,building material, etc, they need measure or contrast objects'color. In addition, lots of information needs transmitting by color. Therefore, the theory and research in application of color detection have broad development space in width and depth.So far, the variety of the color measuring instrument is too limited to meet well the various needs. Spectrum analyzers can acquire color parameter by analyzing spectrum, while it is highly difficult to apply them generally and practically because they take up too much room and their price is too expensive. Computer color search(CCS)as an objective method of color comparison, has been applied universally in the field of dyeing and so on. Because of its objectivity,rapidness,accuracy and not interfering with environment, people have begun to try to apply it internationally in the clinical color matching. So we also try to apply it in the dental colorimetric treatment. This colorimetric technology plays an important role in the dental repair. In order to make repaired teeth beautiful and coordinated with the dental environment, doctors need measure the teeth color of the patient and then choose the same or similar repairing material to repair the teeth. We try to replace the subjective and ambiguous color comparison with naked eyes with the objective and standard method, combining the technology of computer color search with the semiconductor color sensitive sensors. Finally we design the computer-aided colorimeter that can be used in the clinical prosthodontics treatment. This computer-aided colorimeter is small-sized,portable,operated easily and can match the characteristics of the right color in the limited time, so it has important significance in actual practice.The main task of this essay is to research on the general design,design principle and the performance and choice of every main parts implementation. First of all, we discuss the significance of this research. And then, we introduce the operating principle of Color-Sensitive Sensors and show the hardware putting up structure of the whole machine .Finally, the development environment of the software is introduced and the source program is written. The main contents are as follows:(1)Design the general structure of the computer-aided colorimeter and further research on the principle and the realization process of the computer-aided colorimeter and the principle and function of the main parts of the computer-aided colorimeter.(2)Master the core module of computer-aided colorimeter: the operating principle of color-sensitive sensors with PN structure of two different junction depths. And realize the conversion from the optical signal to the electrical signal through comparing two paths short circuit photocurrent with wavelength to distinguish different colors.(3)Design the hardware structure of computer-aided colorimeter and explain its operating principle and realization. Analyze several important components: the operating principle of I/V conversion circuit,differential amplifier,logical voltage interface circuit,switch debouncer circuit,liquid crystal display circuit and microprocessors and illustrate the corresponding circuit diagram. Select the most suitable module of computer-aided colorimeter by comparing the performance of the similar components.(4)Write the source program according to the function that will be realized.(5)Synthesize every research results and accomplish the hardware structure and the debugging of the program through practice by myself. Successfully design the product model prototype and meet the needs of product designing. And quickly find the type that can match its color according to different dental color.
