Phased array radar have many technical and tactical advantages, such as easy conversion beam, scanning speed, high precision, strong multi-target handling capability and so on. However, due to the aperture transit-time effects, it can only work on a relatively narrow bandwidth of the signal, restricted the application of it in the high performance field requirements. The phased-array radar through real-delay method, however,overcoming the impact of the aperture transit-time effects by increasing signal bandwidth,ability to adapt and meet the requirements of high-performance radar of the modern war,and become an important direction of development. In the last few years,integrated Photonics RF phase shifter, which can be used as optical phased array as a sub-array phase shifter and replaced huge bulky traditional electronic phase shifters ,have been widespread concerned by the international social. The main purpose of this paper is to study and design a RF photonic phase-shifter that can be used for photo-controlled phased array systems, and we mainly focused on RF photonic phase shifter on the theory and the use of discrete devices constitute a phase-shift system. We aim to develop a reasonable, practical RF signals shift in approach and use in phased-array radar as a phase shifter.Photon RF phase shifter, also known as microwave photon phase shifter, belonging to the electronic and optical cross-cutting areas of the comprehensive study, and its function is to achieve phase shifting of the optical-contained RF signal . The first chapter of the paper briefly introduced important role of the optical phased array, as well as the Research situation of the integrated microwave photon phase shifter on domestic and abroad. The second chapter explained the detail of Phased Array System beam scanning principle,and further analysis the causes and solutions of the key issues that can not be avoided in a phased array radar- the aperture effect,and the components of optical phased array system. In the third chapter we designed a RF modules photon phase shifter used in optical phased array system .Through rigorous mathematical derivation to prove that the phase shifter designed can complete a 360-degree phase shifter functions, and elaborated the methods of how to control the RF photonic phase shifter; at last we test on the system constitute by discrete components as a test system and described the results. In Chapter IV ,we first used the optical communication system simulation tool software of Optisystem 3.0 to do the system simulation, and then we use discrete devices to Component a RF photon phase shifter principle verification system, and introduced the experimental situation, and based on this, the further tested of the principle verification system was done application the vector network analyzer . Finally, the RF photon phase shifter designed on the paper were analyzed, and a number of recommendations were proposed in the next phase of work.The first achievement of this Papers is that it designed a set of more reasonable and practical RF-signal phase-shift system (as shown in Figure 3.2 Chapter 3), and fully proved the correctness of the system , at the same time we calculated the system and list the conditions which are necessary in the design and production process(Chapter 3 gives the two conclusions). Second, we achieve the phase-shift system by two ways of software simulation and discrete devices built, in addition to the simulation results and test results further support the theory of design, the structures also provides a model for the theory design, and this as a blueprint, presented at the preliminary design of the integrated radio frequency photonic phase shifter in the end of the third chapter, and design the size and the structure of the production process reasonably, we hope to eventually achieve practical integration RF photonic phase shifter.The study in this paper covers the work of Phased Array system theory and the theory of RF phase shifter, as well as other related principles and key technologies. The paper provide an approach of shifting the phase of a radio frequency signals and strict mathematical derivation to prove its accuracy and feasibility, and on this basis used the optical communication system simulation tool software of Optisystem 3.0 to do the system simulation, and the simulation results support the theory of derivation and, we also used discrete devices constitute a phase-shift system for the principle of verification experiment. The text contained the RF signals shift method, the simulation methods and test methods and test tools, they all provides some useful theoretical and practical aspects of reference for future practical optical phased array radar system designed.
