High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is the essential feature of WCDMA specifications included in Release 5, which is employed to increase downlink packet data throughput by means of many key techniques, such as adaptive modulation and coding, hybrid automatic repeat request and fast scheduling. Due to the development of streaming service and the high bit rate of HSDPA, HSDPA is believed to be able to support streaming services. It is necessary to develop a packet scheduling algorithm which is suitable to streaming service supported by HSDPA, which is the main purpose of this thesis.Firstly, the thesis introduces the principle of HSDPA technology and its packet scheduling algorithm, and analyzes the characteristic of streaming service as well as the requirements of streaming scheduling algorithms. Then, after studying two packet scheduling algorithms based on QoS, the thesis proposes two streaming scheduling algorithm based on Token Bucket. Finally, some theoretical analysis and comparison for these algorithms are performed with some computer simulation based on Matlab. |
