XML language is a kind of semi-structured self descripion language, which provides a new approach of data management in Web. But one of these methods is exchanging XML data into RDBMS. So how to store XML data into Relation Database is a hot research field. This thesis analyzes the XML language and DTD, and discusses the technology of mutual storing XML data into relation database. It also analyzes mapping methods between XML document and Relation Database. The strategy of how to mutual change data between XML and RDB based on the method of normalization is brought out, and designs the algorithm of mutual mapping XML into RDB based on function dependency. On the basis of this, a prototype has been put forword. The main works of this thesis are: (1) gives out a set of functional dependency and an algorithm of exchanging XML data into Relation Database; (2) normalization rules for XML schema is defined to eliminate redundancies of data based on the set; (3) an mutual exchange model which satisfied functional dependency is also presented; (4) In the last part of this thesis, it realizes a data covertion between XML amd Relation Database.
