In the past years,IP and other data traffic grow greatly,and meanwhile the capacity of dense wavelength-division multiplexing transmission increases multiply.Recently,the legacy connect-oriented network is evolved towards IP-center data network and,as a result,new generation optical network emerges.Among these new optical switching techniques,optical packet switching(OPS) becomes the ideal one in the future.In this thesis,we first introduce some traditional architectures of optical packet switching node,and the scheduling methods of resources in the node,including the tunable wavelength converter(TWC) and optical buffers consisting of fiber delay lines(FDL).After that,we propose an approved architecture of OPS node,SFOB,and offer the scheduling method of FDL buffer. Simulation has been carried out to study the packet loss probability of the SFOB architecture under random network traffic load.The organization of this thesis is as follows:Chapter 1 is an introduction.We give a brief overview of the development of optical switching technologies,especially the features of opticla packet switching.Chapter 2 is key techniques in OPS.We introduce some keys techniques that have to be overcome in order to implement the OPS network,focusing on the techniques of optical packeting,packet synchronization and contention resolution.Chapter 3 is the the architectures of OPS node. We discuss some traditional architectures of OPS node and give a comparation of the advantages and disadvantages among these architecture.Chapter 4 is the scheduling methods of switching resources in OPS node.In this chapter,the scheduling methods of FDL optical buffers are discussed in detail,besides an brief introduction of the scheduling methods of TWCs.Chapter 5 is an inproved architecture of space-devision switch OPS node and its performance analysis.Based on chapter 3 and chapter 4,this apporved architecture is proposed,SFOB,and its performance is studied with simulation.Chapter 6 is a summary and perspective on the related work.
