In recent years, optical communication technology is developing very rapidly, but in the network nodes, we still need to transfer optical signals to electrical signals for processing, electronic bottleneck restricted the development of optical communication. All optical buffer, as the key component of the all-optical network, became one of the hotspots of international researches. The all-optical buffer based on dual-loop optical buffer (DLOB) is a novel optical buffer, which is compact, easy to operate and variable. In this paper, based on previous work to build a multi-wavelength signal buffer system, carried out the experimental studies to the problems existing in the system. Completed the following main work:1. Built the multi-wavelength signal system and successfully carried out the buffer experiment. Achieved eight wavelength signals 2.5Gb/s five cycles 8.91 us buffering and choose one of four input wavelength signals to butter eighteen cycles, and the experimental results were analyzed.2. By the erbium deposited fiber amplifier (EDFA), the wavelength division multiplexer (WDM) and the variable optical attenuator (VOA) to constitute the feedback loop structure, achieved to control the gain, linear range and noise of EDFA. Adjusted the center wavelength of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) by using stress conditioning technology to make the power equalization of different signals.3. Carried out the experimental studies to the noise characteristic, the gain saturation characteristic and cross gain modulation of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), and the power equalization effect of SOA was also studied experimentally.4. Measured the main components which constructed multi-wavelength signal buffering system, has been clear about their parameters.
