Pulse detonation engine (PDE) is a new concept of propulsive engine which uses high temperature and pressure gas produced by intermittent detonation wave to generate thrust. PDE has many desirable advantages, including high thermal dynamic cycle efficiency, low specific fuel consumption, high thrust/weight and specific impulse, simple configuration, and so on PDE will become propulsive device of aviation and spaceflight aero-craft in 21st century.Based on the analyzing of theory and working principle on pulse detonation engine and circulation, the paper obtained the control strategies by reseaching and analyzing the engine's performance. Moreover, applying the conclusion respectively in the adaptive fuzzy PID control and the PID control based on Genetic Algorithm tuning has achieved good results. In the theoretical calculation and analysis, the following four aspects of researching work have been mainly carried on:1) The software designed by the method of minimum free energy has been used for calculating the chemical equilibrium composition. And characteristic parameters of detonation wave have been calculated by the iterative method of Newton-Raphson. The influences that different initial temperature and pressure, equivalence ratio of mixture have on the characteristic parameters of detonation wave are summarized.2) An analytical model for the performance of a single-cycle pulse detonation engine has been established. Relations between performance parameters of PDE and parameters of equivalence ration, initial temperature, initial pressure and frequency are analyzed and calculated.3) A mathematical model of thrust control on pulse detonation engine is established. Normalization and discretization has been taken on this model for the purpose of control.4) The adaptive fuzzy PID control and the PID control based on Genetic Algorithm has been studied, and applied in pulse detonation engine steady-state control, and simulated on some specific performance state.
