Universal Serial Bus Technology has been a very mature technology which is used to exchange data between computer and Peripherals, it owns many advantages such as fast, two-way, real-time transmission supported, plug-and-play supported, simple protocol and easy development. It has been widely used in the field of computer's peripheral interface.SOPC is put forward by Altera as a flexible and efficient solution for SOC, It integrates processor, memory, I/O ports and other modules needed for system design into a programmable device to constitute a programmable system-on-chip. SOPC is the combination of PLD and ASIC technology and can be considered that it represents the semiconductor industry's development direction in the future. The TIFF-B (Tag Image File-Bilevel images) format image transmission which based on USB 2.0 and SOPC technology in the CTP (Computer-to-plate machine) system will be discussed in the paper. Firstly, the basic knowledge of USB2.0 protocol and the development of SOPC are introduced. Then, the hardware design process and firmware programming method are presented, the establishment of the on-chip system is discribed in firmware section, at last, the development process of the USB 2.0 drivers and application are stated.
