With the rapid development and application of DWDM technique,more and more demand is put forward for the wider bandwidth of optical amplifiers.Aiming at the needs of bandwidth of EDFA in modern times,a new sort of amplifier glass materials was designed. The material was a bismuth-doped optical glass.The forming range of bismuth -doped Portland glass was deplored.The eliminated glass matrix experiment were done.The luminescent mechanism of bismuth ion-doped glass were analysised.The refractive index,absorption spectra,fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetime were tested.The spectrum properties were anlysed using Judd-Ofelt theory and McCumber theory according to the testing results.The infection factors onΩ2,Ω)4,Ω6 were discussed.Based on the project,this new kinds of optical amplifiering material was prepared.The half fluorescence bandwidth is 270 nm,the fluorescence life is447μs,the refractive index is 1.8~1.9.The results showed that this new kind of materials is a good optical amplifiering material with cheap price,good physical chemistry properties and excellent bandwidth.
