Research And Implementation Of Bluetooth OBEX Protocol And Profile

With the rapid development of wireless communication in recent years, wireless devices such as mobile phones and PDA, which have characters such as low power, flexibility and convenience, are being major tools of exchanging information. Bluetooth is a world wide open standard for wireless data and voice communication. Based on the low-cost and short range wireless connection, Bluetooth provides solutions for data exchanging of mobile devices in a short range.OBEX protocol is a session protocol developed by the Infrared Data Association (IrDA), which acts the role of exchanging data objects on the infrared data connection. Bluetooth adopts the protocol and integrated it into Bluetooth system, which makes it possible that mobile devices supporting Bluetooth can exchange data objects conveniently. Basic Imaging Profile is used for exchanging images between Bluetooth Digital Cameras and other devices. Devices supporting Basic Imaging Profile can push, get or print images conveniently. So it is of great importance to implement OBEX protocol and related applications in Bluetooth system.This thesis firstly introduces the project background and the structure of the paper, and then gives an introduction to Bluetooth specification and OBEX protocol. On the basis of analyzing OBEX protocol, this thesis introduces how to implement OBEX protocol in Bluetooth system and how to integrated on Windows.The implementation of Basic Imaging Profile is a major aspect of this thesis. This thesis introduces a platform independent implementation structure of Basic Imaging Profile, and an example is given for analyzing the implementation.This thesis also explains how to develop Basic Imaging Profile related application on Windows. And a Windows Shell Extension based application implementation is given in this thesis, which makes the application more useful.
