As power electronic technology developments rapidly, various power electronic devices have widespreadly been used in power system, bringing increasingly severe harmonics problems and exerting tremendous influence on electrical use environment. New test projects and demands also have been proposed constantly. So it becomes extremely important to establish one kind of test means with high accuracy and high automaticity.The virtual instrument is new generation of measurement equipment.with brand-new concept. since 1987, this technology developments rapidly at the unprecedented speed compared with the previous several generation of measuring instrument. The virtual instrument is gradually becoming development trend in test domain.This article introduces the virtual instrument concept, and designes on harmonics test analysis and sampling of non-complete period by combining hardware such as computer and data acquisition card with the labVIEW platform.It introduces the sampling theory, and discusses mathematics foundation of sampling and the harmonics analysis in detail on the Fourier's series and Elaborated classics harmonics analysis method - DFT and FFT. This article has mainly discusses the characteristics of two common sampling methods which includes synchronized sampling and the standard sampling.Focuses on the research of the algorithm design on harmonics analysis and sampling of non-complete period based on LabVIEW and compares the their result and advantages and disadvantages of three samplings and harmonics analysis.The experiment indicates that selecting sampling algorithm of non-complete period to analysize harmonics has better effect under synchronous error and medium frequency generator system with high real-time.It greatly enchanced the test accuracy of system using resources such as computers and LabVIEW software development platform and so on.
