RF(Radio Frequency) card fee charging system is a typical application of RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Because routine RF card fee charging system need to lay special cables (normally are serial communication cables) and the terminals must be deployed near to the position machine in a short radius, the system's using range is restricted and system is not flexible. At the same time, because SMS(Short Message Service) in GSM(Global System for Mobile communication) network is cheap and convenient, various applications based on SMS are being focused by researchers to study. The paper's purpose is to research combining RF card fee charging system with GSM network and transmitting data by SMS. Then the performance of RF card fee charging system is improved.With a thorough understanding of the theory and technology correlatived to RFID and SMS application system, the author designed and improved an integrated mobile RF card fee charging system. The development of the system refered to some RFID systems and SMS application systems applied in China and foreign countries. At the same time, the author adopted some latest technology, and did some basic work in favor to improve the system or to develop a new system.The paper explained the subject's background and purpose at first, briefly introduced the research history and developing trend of RFID technology and SMS application system. Then the paper discussed the basic principle and key technogy related to the system, introduced RF card system's componts. Following this, the paper emphasized the hardware design of the mobile fee charging system, introduced the main parts in the system, including MCU(Micro Controller Unit), RF module, RF card, GAL(General Array Logic) chip, etc., described the system's architecture and the circuit design of the main functional parts. Further, the paper introduced the system's software design conforming to the hardware design, including integrated software design and every functional part's software design, discussed the RS232 serial programming in Windows environment, AT(Attention) commands set of mobile phone, and PDU(Protocal Data Unit) encoding/decoding of SMS. At last, the paper made the subject's summarization and prospect, and tabled some proposals to improve the subject.The actual working state of the system indicates that the design of the system is rational, inexpensive, flexible and stable. The system can meet the need of application.
