As indispensable explosive materials, detonating cord is used to connect perforating charges according to design demands and to ignite the charges during perforating practice, Whether the charges are located in the designed position and direction depends on the contractility of detonating cord. The analysis and quantitative test of the contractility plays a positiVe role in promoting perforation optimization design.This paper studies the measuring principle of the contractility and the composition of the testing system., theoretically calculats the safe wall thickness of the explosion-proof housing and performing numerical simulation with LS-DYNA after a wide literature survey on explosion containers. It discusses the design of high temperature thermotank up to 300℃and the choice of thermal insulation materials and heaters, stressing power estimation of heaters, and explaining the principle of PID temperature controlling. It also discusses the connecting and controlling principle, of the mechanical and electrical parts of the system. At the end of this paper, it tests the contractility of seamless steel pipe of stainless steel 304 and detonating cord, analyzes and processes the test data, and analyzes the system performance.
