Aquiculture is widespread in Jiangsu province. Now the aquiculture industry of Jiangsu, even the whole country is developing from traditional manual breeding to industrialized and intensive breeding. The monitoring and controlling of the water quality are crucial to increasing the yield, reducing the cost, preventing the diseases and improving the income. Water quality environment automatic monitoring system based on E-web is a social development project of Suzhou. The system may manage the temperature, DO and pH in distributed and interconnected manner to meet the demand of aquiculture industry. And the illumination, ammonia, nitrogen, sulphide and nitrite are also can be supervised by extending the system.The system consists of data acquistion subsytem, adjusting and controlling subsystem, central controlling subsystem and monitoring host. The main function of data acquistion subsytem and adjusting and controlling subsystem, the foreground of the system, is to realize the acquistion and processing of data by chemistry electrode and other sensors. And then the water quality metrics may be controlled automatically through the control algorithm. At the same time the water quality data is transferred to central controlling system by the network. The main function of central controlling subsystem, the background of the system and with a Web server embedded, is to connect the system to Internet through Ethernet, to realize the remote monitoring, to transfer the data to DBMS, to analyze the data and predict the disease.The paper introduces the design and implementation of hardware and software system of the foreground and background subsystem in detail. The selection of the hardware, the design and testing method of circuit, the acquisition and control of water quality data, LCD display and the design of alarm module are also described. The paper emphasizes the hardware system design of Ethernet controller based on 8-bit MCU, the design of device driver program, the implementation of TCP/IP, HTTP server and CGI programming and the method of real-time data display in graphic manner. The data communication between the foreground and the background and the anti-jamming problem in abnormal environment are discussed in-depth.
