The Research And Realization Of JXTA-Based Course Aided Teaching System

With the fast development of computer network, all kinds of new technologies are coming forth. P2P is an Internet application of distributed computing technology, which is widely used currently.In the field of P2P mode research, Sun company's JXTA has attracted the industry's attention as a new solution based on the network platform. On the other hand, computer assisted instruction (CAI) has become an essential part of modern education, and its research, development and implementation constitute the important aspect of college education reform. Lots of work are being done in the field, and it is a subject with very practical interests to integrate this technology into college CAI applications and put forward new solutions according to the applications'characteristics.In this article, we choose JXTA as our platform, and design a course aided teaching system (JBCAT, JXTA based course aided teaching system), with hybrid P2P network structure.This article introduces the conception, history of P2P network as well as its differences from traditional networks. Then it analyzes and explores JXTA technology. On this basis, this article presents our research, design and implementation of JBCAT–a new distributed course aided system in details.The JBCAT system provides a complete communication platform. Full consideration is taken on the universality, expandability and the interactive feature in the design. This article also discusses the presentation of the shared resources in a P2P coordinated education environment, puts forward a sharing mechanism of shared objects based on XML event message, thus realizes the course management and cooperation and communication online. In the end, a summary of the system design is made.Through the research on the subject, we try to employ P2P network mode to overcome the disadvantages of traditional mode. At the same time, the introduction of JXTA into computer aided teaching also conduces to further exploration on online education. The research and realization of this P2P application provides a new method and solution to the development of course aided teaching system.
