| Programming weighs a lot in computer science, and it is also the focus of the argument in the computer curriculum. It is an important issue in computer education as to how to start a programming course, what abilities of students to cultivate and which environment to choose in programming.The paper based on the experiment aiming to further analyze and consider students'knowledge and the structure of their ability. The experiment, which relies on the study that has been done and uses Linux and Windows as main lines, emphasizes testing students from the angle of knowledge, and then students'programming ability through their doing experiments. By comparing the results under both Linux and Windows in the experiment, it is proved that Linux can improve learners'programming ability. The experiment adopts Solomon four-group design, with Windows and Linux as independent variable and the programming ability as dependent variable. After one year's experiment through teaching with 184 students of Computer Information and Engineering College enrolled 2004 as testees, conclusions are drawn as follows:1. Linux has marked impact on improving the programming ability.2. Teaching through experiment is an effective way to cultivate students'programming ability.Based on the teaching and experiment, the possible reasons in Linux for influencing programming ability are open source, program designing based on character interface, safe and stable developing environment, developing tools following the standard of ANSI and good transplant.By analyzing the relationship between ability and individual makings based on discussing knowledge and ability, the value of programming under Linux is general. |
