AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)is the vital part of the advanced manufactural system. With the growing of factory automation and the demand of the flexible manufacturing system, it will be imperative to develop the AGV in our country. This project was entrusted to develop by an IC production corporation in the Suzhou industry park. This paper is for the purpose of designing a kind of Automatic Guided Vehicle system with low-cost, reliability and convenience for maintenance and extension, which suits chinese small and medium-sized enterprises demands. This system is designed with distributed control structure which based on LIN-bus technology. It will be more independent between modules and more convenient for mutual communication because of the application of LIN-bus, and the system will be more reliable and stable. Firstly, some background information and conception related to the thesis are introduced. Secondly, the designing idea and the implementing method of hardware, software and mechanical design of the system hosted by MC9S12XDP512 are described.In the article, the description about design of LIN-bus interface's hardware, software and some key points of the implementation are given in detail. The problem about the auto-adaptability to the illumination and the trace algorithm is also illuminated in detail. As the validation test, a series of performance tests of AGV are described and the experiment results are given and analyzed. Finally, the system has been applied to the IC production line and this course includes designing the path and bringing into operation. Some issues about anti-jamming, testing and experience of project development are also presented. The result of the experiment shows that the performance of AGV fills the demand of the task.
