Due to the advantages of solid structure, good fault-tolerance, low cost, high-speed flexibility, Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has been used widely in high-speed and high-reliability fields, such as aeronautics, astronautics and high-speed centrifuges and so on. As a synchronous motor, the rotor position signal of SRM is the basis of logical switching of each phase switching devices. Because of high operation of SRM, the frequency of rotor position signal is very high; therefore inner resources of DSP or singlechip are engrossed by processing rotor position signals and calculating control angles synchronously, and then complex control arithmetic can not be realized by using DSP and singlechip timely; finally, SRM can not operate normally. A novel, based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) controller of SRM is developed, and the Application Specific Integrated Circuit for SRM in place of FPGA is studied in this thesis. The main tasks of the paper include:The whole hardware of SRM controller based on FPGA is designed, produced, welded and debugged.Lucubrating Hardware Description Language, and grasping use-method of its debugging software.Writing and debugging the program of dealing with the position signal and calculating the angle, SPI communication and signal synthesis using Verilog HDL language, and on this condition, designing SRM's ASIC and its layout. The experiment waveform of validating the logical function of Verilog HDL code and controlling 6/2 SRM in high speed using novel controller are given. The experiment results show that the logical function of Verilog HDL code and its calculating speed reach the prospective requirement, therefore, it is good for SRM's ASIC successful design.
