Pleasure-oriented tourism and informative exhibitions are booming recently, accompanied by the economic prosperity. Historical resorts, museums and trade fairs draw more and more attention. To improve the tourism service's intelligentization is of great significance.Conventionally, the unilingual commentators guide the tourists. Their job is tedious. Moreover, the service quality cannot be guaranteed, especially when the tourists are so numerous that the commentator is incapable of getting control of them. To have this problem solved, this thesis proposed a novel intelligent wireless electronic explanation system, which greatly enhances the efficiency and service quality.The proposed system consists of two parts: wireless ID code transmitter and hand-held intelligent explanation terminals. One or more transmitters are installed at different districts. The emitted ID code varies with location. An ID code set should fully cover the entire spot. Once the tourist comes into one district, handset receives the particular code automatically to locate itself. And then, corresponding explanation file is selected and played.Firstly the system's structure was proposed based on practical needs. Secondly, the appropriate chip was selected and the hardware system was designed using AT89C51SND1C micro-controller. And then, this thesis discussed the detailed software design, which includes FAT system, USB interface protocol, MP3 file's play and wireless district recognition. Finally, the system was evaluated by testing the handset's performance and wireless links'coverage.The evaluation shows the system's satisfactory robustness, utility and compatibility, which successfully meet our demand.
