Transmission network is the basis of the entire telecommunication network, which carried the business for the entire network access and transfer platform for transmission. Transmission Network Management System is the important factor to ensure a stable transmission network and its efficient operation. With the continued expansion of the scale of the network as well as the increasing equipment types and network services, not only more functions of network management system is requested by the operators, but also quality of software is receiving more and more attention. People hope that the mistakes and collapses can be avoided as much as possible during the process of the software in usual operation. There's no doubt that strengthening the software testing is a key way to improve software quality. Moreover, fully test for each module is the only way to improve software quality and reduce lower development costs. Therefore, it's of great significanc to design and develop a proper unit test platform for Transmission Network Management System from both theoretical and practical aspects.This paper deals with the network management system ZXONM-E500 and selects the field of unit test as focus. Firstly, this paper describes the logic design ideas of each layer of the optical transmission network management system ZXONM-E500 and analysed the characteristics of various levels of this distributed framework, and then this thesis shows its ideas on the structure and main work during the postgraduate; After comparing several types of software testing model based on the characteristics of network management system, the thesis brings up the overall design of unit test platform based on network management system. It makes details on the design ideas of unit test platform especially the logical structure of data-driven modular and automatization. The practical test results show that this platform can effectively position problems corresponding functions and precise location of the bugs. Finally, the paper gives out some views and problems about the software testing which remain to be solved.
