Under the background of developing a distributed logistic information management system for SAST (Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology), the author researched real-time Electronic Data Interchange approaches based on a distributed system of structure theory. This research covers real-time data exchange, data security and the topology of the prepositive section of a distributed information system. The key to these issues are object interoperability, data transfer and data security, which have been the core of the author's research. The author adopts ASP+PLL to component building; uses both HTTP and XML to model data transfer, thus finding a solution to internal data transfer between several systems. The author also proposes a combined usage of firewall, VPN and a security authentication server to ensure net data security and finally, a complete system design. This paper first introduces the background of developing a distributed information management system and some essential ideas included in data exchange, data security and a distributed system. In the second part of this paper, the author shows her research results on the distributed system including Electronic Data Interchange, data security and other available design patterns. Based on these results, the author decides the final overall system design. The third chapter details the design of a specific XML data exchange model used in the aforementioned system. The fourth chapter deals with the implementation and application of the designed system. Implementation of the system design is first presented and a detailed report and analysis on system performance is given, following the description of each functional component's realization.
