TPAM(Three-Phase Asynchronous Motor) is most used in every field because of its simple structure, stable running, and lower price. With the quickly development of machines in production area, the more excellent start performance is desired.To solve the problem of traditional start defect such as high start current and long start time, the soft starter for TPAM based on power electronics technology has been researched and a design project for the soft starter based on P89V51RD2 has been presented in this paper.A voltage adjusting model with SCR is used in this soft starter. By regulating the amplitude of asynchronous motor's voltage, it realizes the functions of the voltage-slope start ,the current-limit start, the torque-control start,the soft-stop and so on.The theories and methods,technical connotation,hardware equipment and software equipment of soft start technique have been intensively studied and carefully analyzed in this thesis: the hardware part includes the examining module of voltage and current, the spring module of SCR, the driving module, the protecting module, digital settings by keyboard and LCD module,design and type selection of correlative circuit ; the software part includes design of the main program module,the keyboard and LCD subprogram module,the proportional and integral control subprogram module, establishment of programming language and proceeding environment.The simulation test of TPAM has been done with MATLAB Simulink in this thesis. The results of the simulation show that this soft start system can reduce the high start current of TPAM with proper start torque.The theories and techniques of soft brake for TPAM have also been carefully studied in this thesis.The methods and equipment of flexible brake which is fit for small and medium TPAM have been presented in this paper. A novel,advanced and flexible brake for small and medium TPAM is also designed in this paper. This soft brake has so many advantages that it can brake quickly, accurately, safely and reliablely and make the brake process flexible (proper impulse current and low impact).The process of soft stop and its applied occasion is also introducted in this paper.The author will graduate from the univeristy and is limited by time, human,material and financial resources,so the duty to make and debug the sample machine of soft starter need the follows to accomlish .
