Information exchange based on network supplies convenient approaches for the usage and spread of multimedia digital production. Because digital production is easy to be copied and tampered lawlessly, the information security and copyright protection of digital production is a problem crying for solution. Digital watermarking technology supplies a useful method for the copyright protection of digital production. Currently, the researches of digital watermarking mainly concentrate on image watermarking. The researches on video and audio watermarking are few. Recently, digital video has already been a necessary entertainment method in our life, but the corresponding copyright protection technology hasn't grown mature yet. The application and research of copyright protection technology of digital video production become urgent, and video watermarking is an important makeup of this technology. The research and development of video watermarking technology become more important.The paper researches the theory and technology of digital watermarking especially video watermarking and MPEG-2 video compression standard. Based above researches, the paper proposes two robust MPEG-2 video watermarking algorithms. The former uses error control technology, chaos theory and spread frequency technology to do the watermark pretreatment, and embeds the layered watermarks to different video scenes. The algorithm embeds the watermark to direct current coefficients according to the texture characters of video images, and changes the chroma direct current coefficients according to their absolute values self-adaptively. The latter uses life game theory and error control technology to do the watermark pretreatment. The algorithm embeds the watermark to motion vectors according to their amplitude threshold value and the image texture character threshold value, and changes the motion vectors according to their characters self-adaptively.The two algorithms use error control technology, chaos theory, spread frequency technology and life game theory to video watermarking. They increase the invisibility, robustness and security of the watermark, and reach the purpose of copyright protection. Finally, the paper programs the two algorithms and does the simulation experiments, then gives the result data and graphs. Lots of experiment results indicate the video watermarking used the proposed algorithms can extract the watermark after suffered code rate change, interference, frame regrouping, frame deleting and other attacks. It shows that the watermark has good robustness. Besides, the watermark has excellent characters on invisibility, real time capability and security.
