At present, Industrial Personal Computers (IPC) are often used in industry monitoring system, which have abundant graphic interface and network functions. It is reasonable and practical for large system. However, for some small industrial monitoring systems or complicated mini-devices, using IPC may be improper as a result of its oversize bulk, high cost and rigorous requirement of environment. Though some manufacturers use traditional single-chip system to fulfill those task, the graphic processing function, the man-machine conversation and the network communication ability are so poor that it's very hard to meet people's demand. Moreover, the developing task is very complicated and huge.This paper formulated the research significance of the embedded technology in the industry monitoring system, and introduces a mode of small industrial monitoring embedded system, with 32 bit ARM9 MPU , Windows CE and necessary communication interface as inner core. This paper then discussed the main function and the hardware/software of the system.On the hardware, this paper emphasized on the design of the embedded controller, used the Samsung S3C2410X MPU as kernel, and did some design of the key components: power supply, crastal, restart, URAT, LCD interface, USB interface, SDRAM interface, Ethernet interface and JTAG interface. This paper also did research of the anti-jamming technology.On the software, this paper divided the system into two part: the customization of the operating system and the design of the monitoring software. During the customization of the operating system, this paper developed the device driver, and realized the transplant of operating system. During the design of the monitoring software, this paper introduced the design method of several basic function modules, such as the serial communication module, the collection data management module, the I/O monitoring module, the trend curve display module, the abnomority alarm module, the control strategy module, and the Ethernet communication module. Besides, this paper also did the research of the real-time capability of the system.On the end, this paper applied this mode into the practice, designed a incinerator monitoring system, realized the hardware and software platform design. The practice indicated that this embedded small industry monitoring system mode had the advantage of powerful function, friendly man-machine interface, small size, low power consumption, high reliability, easy development, and extensible system. It will take great impact on the industry monitoring system.
