The Research Of Usability Of Information Architecture On Internet

Since we have entered the end of 20th century, the information society begins to show itself to the world. There are two basic tendencies of the existence and the transmission in information society. First one is the information transmission network. As a significant carrier of the information society, the network takes multitudinous technique and content on a single contact surface. The network not only gathers every kind of media, form and granularity together, but also carries on the plane combination, the overlapping combination and the three-dimensional combination to these sets. It carries on the superimposition to many kinds of special information, and forms a complex information space that is formed by the communications ensemble, the contact surface and the user constitutes. Second one is that the information transmission takes user as the center. To strengthen the usability of the information transmission is the key to solve the valid of information transmission. Therefore, in the magnanimous information survival environment, the Information Architecture theory that bases on usability is able to effectively solve the problems of the information expression, demonstration, understanding and usage. It can help the network designers to establish the contact surface that the information can effectively transmit. Therefore, the usability of Information Architecture on Internet is the research object of this paper.This paper first elaborates the background and meaning of topic selecting, then introduces the domestic and foreign research situation, and produces the research content and structure. Then, it introduces the elementary knowledge of Information Architecture on Internet and usability, including its definition, characteristic and core content, and build a foundation for the Information Architecture on Internet which bases on the usability. From the third to sixth chapter, it give the details of four basic system of Anformation Architecture on Internet, which are Organization System, Labeling System, Navigation System and Searching System, and analyze and induce their usage under the instruction of usability principle. Finally, it gives a conclusion.There are three innovation points of the essay: the first one is that the Information Architecture on Internet, which bases on the usability, provides some new ideas for problems occurred in the development of Information Architecture on Internet. The second one is that it uses the related knowledge for reference to propose the bare bone and model of the usability of Information Architecture on Internet. The third one is that it elaborates the solution principle and the method of the usability that bases on Information Architecture on Internet. The research on the usability of Information Architecture on Internet in this paper will enrich the theory of Information Architecture, and will provide instruction for the Information Architecture of the websites.
