Mathematical morphology has been designed for image processing, study and understand easily is the most famous trait, just for this trait mathematical morphology has been public used in many domain. As the core of the mathematical morphology method, element structure has been focused accordingly. Till now, there have not any or a few theory about the selection of structure element. How to select structure element efficiently according to the image of now is the key step of edge detection.This paper takes several steps to discus the problem of edge detection, analyze and research the theory of traditional edge detection algorithm, and follows the trait of Mathematical morphology, combings self-adapting and fuzzy mathematical theory, puts forward an algorithm ,which based on self-adapting select the structure element and then detect the edge of image. This algorithm was based on shuttering match, self-adapting select the best structures according to shuttering match, and self-adapting select the dimension of structure element, and then takes these structures to continue the following steps, till detect the edge of the image. Considering the influence of filter and variation, this paper defines its finical edge. The following chapter uses the fuzzy mathematical theory to improve the capability of the algorithm which put forwards by this paper. This algorithm which put by this paper acts well on common noise image according to simulation.
