Triangulated model reconstruction from slicing data is a multi-disciplinary subject. It is an important application of computer graphics and image processing in industry. It relates to the subject of digital image processing, computer graphics and some knowledge of rapid prototyping manufacturing. The reconstruction method can be used in reverse engineering to build CAD models. Study on Triangulated model reconstruction from slicing data has important significance on science and worthiness in practical application consequently.Image processing and graphics geometric processing are firstly studied and accomplished for the slicing images. In the process of image processing, methods studied are image smoothing, edge extracting and contour tracing. In the process of graphics geometric processing, sectional contour segmentation based on the curvature and the recognition for geometric shape and parameter of every segment are researched.The concept of contour mutation is made definitude, not only the correspondence problem of one-to-more or more-to-more is studied, but also the correspondence problem of one-to-one which has mutation is discussed.In the process of calculating areas which surrounded by slicing contours, the Green's formula is introduced, which make the integral of areas surrounded by slicing contours to the integral of slicing contours, so that the areas surrounded by slicing contours are calculated fast and accurately, which provides a basis for the judgment of contours mutation.The method of judging contours mutation through the rate of difference of areas between adjacent layers is brought forward, and the specific algorithm is given. This method can judge the contours which have mutation successfully, and the chamfer can be recognized accurately.The method of triangle division based on skeleton for planar polygon is advanced. The skeleton of simple polygon is got on the basis of initial triangle division firstly, and then the skeleton is considered as loop composed by half border. The triangulated model which is needed is gained, and the reconstruction of entity model is fulfilled finally.A experimental software system for the reconstruction of triangulated model based on slicing data are developed ,which verify the feasibility and efficiency of the techniques and algorithms for model reconstruction presented in the dissertation.The research work completed in dissertation will play an important role in rapid reverse engineering and prototype manufacturing of parts with complex external and internal surface.
