Research On The Visual Management Of Distance Education

Now, with the wave of the new technology revolution around the world, distance education, characterized by the wide use of modern information technology quickly develops with the popularization of the internet and the growth of the social demand. Distance education becomes, therefore, an integral part of our national education enterprise. As the conflict between its scope and its quality intensifies increasingly, distance education management is, thereby, of primary importance. Being one of the key factors that guarantee the quality of distance education, distance education management consists of the whole process of distance education activity, including teaching management, personnel management, and learning center management. The role that management plays in quality assurance amuses gradually wide attention. People's attention on the quality of distance education makes distance education management a, hot and important issue in the field of modern distance education research. Because the nature of distance education management determines that there exists a close relativity between the managing object and information and spatial location, and it also involves information management demand among various institutions, among large-scale teachers' groups, and between students' groups and managers' groups, education management system based on the current network technology cannot effectively provide necessary support and consequently cannot suffice the pressing demand of distance education management toward wide area information management.The marriage between information management and visualization is a researchfront of information management system. It is a new attempt for the application of visualization technology to unite information visualization and distance education management, which is also a fruitful exploration of how to manage information more logically in accordance with the structure of human cognition. This project studies the issue of management in distance education from the perspective of information visualization and employs many research methods such as literature study, theory analysis and system design. Grounded on a systematic analysis of the fronts and the research results from the related fields like distance education management theory, information visualization and intelligent computing, this thesis incorporates the essential traits of distance education, advances a conception of Visual Management of Distance Education (VMDE) and formal model based on information visualization, and constructs the data model and algorithm model for VMDE. This thesis hereon, analyzes the layout of the learning centers, introduces swarm intelligence algorithm as a technique scheme to solve such problems, in order to provide valuable thinking that are inaccessible in conventional education management.
