As a detective sensor, radar can obtain target information, including target moving parameters and location information. By means of processing, analyzing and transforming the amplitude and phase from the radar echo, we can obtain some parameters such as Radar Cross Section (RCS), statistical model, Polarization Scatter matrix, target multiple Scatter distribution, which are the significant character of the target. Radar Target Recognition is an important develop trend among the research of the radar. High-resolution radar used for Radar Target Recognition has made great process, but it is more practical to do research on the low-resolution radar. This paper is a research about the Sea target recognition based on RCS and put forward a method to recognize the sea target considering the characteristic of sea target.This paper mainly has four parts:1 This paper summarizes the history and present condition of the Radar Target Recognition and sums up the traits and the application situation of each method. And it especially describes the traits of Radar Target Recognition of low-resolution radar.2 This paper illustrates the basic theory of RCS and the traits of sea target's RCS, pointing out some influential elements to the RCS.3 The emphases of this paper are the method of sea target recognition based on RCS; the fourth parts present the process of sea target recognition and simulation analysis.4 This paper discusses different methods of accurate estimate of sea target tracks. And we choose the best one among them according to the simulating analysis.
