The cylindrical conformal microstrip antenna array have the advantages of the microstrip antenna and the conformal'array. With the development of science and technology , the conformal microstrip antenna arrays are strongly demanded not only by the traditional aerial-astro-industry but also by many other areas such as mobile communication etc.. However, The issues synthesis of the beam-forming of the conformal arrays is a difficult and challenging problem all the time.The synthesizing method of of the beam-forming about the cylindrical conformal microstrip antenna arrays are researched in detail. First, the radiation field of a single rectangular patch antenna analyzed by the cavity model is summarized. Second, the algorithms of the radiation field of the cylindrical conformal array are discussed. Last, the Modified Gene Algorithms (MGA) is applied first to the optimization of the beam-forming of the cylindrical conformal patch arrays.In this paper, two kinds of ideal beam-shaped antenna needed in practice are designed. The MGA is adopted to optimize all the parameters such as the three-dimension position of the patch, Amplement and phase of the feed powers of the arrays. The numerical results of show that the pattern of the designed array approach to the anticipant.By applying MGA, the limitation of the classic synthesis methods and some shortages of the traditional GA are overcome, and satisfying results are obtained. All results show, MGA is usefull and effective to the optimization of the cylindricall patch array.
