The multi-beam antenna which is one of the smart antenna possesses the advantages which the traditional antenna don't have. This thesis is arming at investigating the multi-beam forming arithmetic. The compensation for the mutual coupling which affects the multi-beam forming is achieved.First, various of beam forming arithmetic are discussed. The simulational results show that the numeric methods, such as the method using quadratic programming and the method based on the adaptive antenna theory, have many advantages. Based on the single beam forming arithmetic, the multi-beam antenna model is set up. After that, the multi-beam forming arithmetic is achieved. The simulational results show that some peculiarities, such as the side lobe controlling, the main lobe controlling and the zero point controlling, are achieved by meams of using this multi-beam forming arithmetic. After the discussion of the beam forming arithmetic, the mutual coupling model of antenna array is studied. In this thesis, the mutual coupling analysis is more comprehensive, which include the influence to the array element pattern and the influence of the feed-in network. In this way, the formula of the current distribution of antenna array is abtained. Based on the analysis above, the beam forming arithmetic which takes the mutual coupling compensation into account is put forward. At the last, the analytic method of this thesis is applicated in the antenna array which the element is the microstrip element. The simulational results show that the analytic method of this thesis is available.
