This paper is based on the management information system and the power distribution management for the railway. According to the current use of power-distribution management system, a research on the power distribution management information system for the railway is given in this paper and the design and realization are accomlished.to improve the informational management levelFirstly, a simple introduction of the theory of the management information system and its development is given in this paper. Considering the development trendy of information management of the railway and the current status of the power distribution system of the railway, a conclusion is given out that it is necessary to design and develop a management information system for the railway power distribution system. The demands of the management information system on the power distribution from the railway managing department are focused in this paper and at the same time the analyses of the customer demands are given out. Based on the above, a whole solving scheme and the design of the power distribution management information system, including the principles it should obey during the development process and the structure of the system are put forward in this paper. This paper also reveals the function models that should be realized in the system. The advantages and disadvantages of Client/Sever and Browerser/Sever models who are two main popular models are focused on as an emphases. The mature model of three layers Client/Server is choosen because of its high safety requirement and lots of data communition. The Oracle is choosen as the platform for the database developing after a full comparasion of the popular database products.Secondly, the design of the system refers to the principles of developing a management information system and the method of combining the structure-design and object-oriented design is put forward in this paper. The design process of the system is established on the idea of the evolutional model and the spiral model. Finally, this paper ends with the detail design and implementation of the power distribution management information system for railway. The analysis of the technical design scheme and the choice of application platform are especially discussed in this paper. Finally, the nine function models are realized by programming.Finally, a suitable developing tool is chosen to design and realize the management information system. The Delphi 7 is chosen to develop the client after the compare with other tools. An example is given in the paper to show the programming scheme for the system software. An emphasis is given to four models such as the power equipments management, the paragraph management models, fault management and information interface management.This system is based on the real demands of the power distribution management for the railway. It meets the demands by detail analysis and uses the mature development way of management information system. It will play an important role in the Chinese railway information management.
