A Study Of Pan Zinian's Thoughts And Practice Of News

Xinhua Daily(1937-1947), as the witness of the modern historic turning in China, not only reported the great Anti-Japanese War and the Liberation War that led by the Communist Party of China(CPC), but also participated in them and met the foundation of People's Republic of China. Its historic role and experience occupy an important place in the news career of China and CPC. And all these are closely related to the outstanding news practice and excellent leading of Pan Zinian, the first proprietor of Xinhua Daily.This paper elaborates Pan Zinian's news practice associating with Qunzhong Weekly, Xinhua Daily in Wuhan and Xinhua Daily in Chongqing, summarizes his news thoughts from the aspects of the Party newspaper character, business management in Party newspapering, qualification of journalism and troop construction, and then it further discusses the historical sources of the formation of his news thoughts and his contributions to the development of the Party newspaper. Besides, based on the analysis above, this paper points out that the historical sources of Pan Zinian's news thoughts are the influence of Marxism-Leninism, Zhou Enlai's news thoughts, and the summarization of his own news experience. His news thoughts enrich the proletariat Party newspaper theory, offer a new method of Party newspapering management and perfect the idea of "serve for people", which make the prominent contributions to the CPC's Party newspaper career.
