Research On Extending BPEL4WS For Data Transform

SOA provides organizations with an excellent solution for application integration. And in SOA, BPEL4WS is concerned and widely used to integrate Web services. However, because BPEL4WS is mainly used to set up and manage business processes, it is not good at dealing with heterogeneous data. On the other hand, because inter-organization systems and legacy systems within organizations bring a lot of heterogeneous data, the tasks of data processing become heavy burden of BPEL4WS. In addition, in commercial area, a large number of data processing involves the use of business rules, therefore, using and integrating business rules becomes an important factor for BPEL's further promotion.Aiming at these problems, we proposed our improvement in mainly two aspects:First, this paper presents an approach to extend BPEL4WS by appending three attributes to BPEL's activity. These attributes are rule, ruleengine and expression that designate data processing logic. Furthermore, this paper eliminates the emergence bound of BPEL's element to meet the need of multi-source data processing.Second, the method has been implemented in BPEL engine, and to support it, some modules, such as schema matcher, the supporter of business rules engine and the interface to support a custom data processing engine, have been added to the engine.Above all, this paper improves the capacity of BPEL's data processing so that BPEL engine can satisfy the most complex data processing need. Moreover, it increases the system's availability and scalability, and maintains the continual and efficient operation of the system.
