Research Of A Customizable And Extensible Network Terminal Platform

With the rapid development of information technology, various network terminals emerged in many fields, such as thin computer, info querying terminal, industrial control terminal, handset, etc. And the research of network terminal is continuously put forward such as the concept of DOC and CSAN . All of these terminals save local resources with decrease of extra cost. And they make full use of convenience of network computing to attain better rate between quality and price. Although various implement cases of system have particular traits, the development of network terminals prevails to the aspects of abundant functions, rapid response, low cost, convenient operations.This paper improves the technology of traditional hard disk storage by research on background of network terminal. A solution case of network terminal based on PCI Flash Card is put forward. The research mainly focuses on the following aspects: First,it is hardware design of terminal storage device as PCI flash card, From the introduce of main chipset to layout of schematics and PCB.Second, it is the development of device driver for BIOS system and Linux kernel,which making a precondition for constructing tidy system kernel. Third,it is implement for graphics interface of interaction,which put research on scheme of implement of graphics interface based on open software-MiniGUI. Fouth,it is analysis of extensible method with remote computer,which introduces two methods as image downloaded and terminal mode and analyzing principle and procedure of communication between terminal and server.Finally, a reference model of network terminal platform is put forward after the research of total system.The scheme has characteristic of low cost and can be customized and extensible. It is also considered to adopt and support of open source software. Some measures of improvement are about to be introduced in future. The referential design of project can be applied in embedded system, mainboard of industrial control, network terminal, etc.
