The wide application of 32-bit microprocessors like ARM, DSP and embedded operation systems like VxWorks, Linux makes the processing capacity of embedded system upgraded significantly. With the increasing complexity of the objects and the various functional demands, embedded system has been widely employed into the measurement and control system to meet the demands of low power consumption and high performance. Based on the control subsystem of the Canada residential green energy generation system, the architecture of embedded distributed measurement and control system and the realization of related technologies are discussed in this paper.Central control unit using ARM processor and terminal unit using DSP processor compose the hardware design of the system. The paper mainly introduces the realization of CAN bus interface in the central unit and the control of brushless direct current motor in the terminal unit. Based on the introduction of embedded software developing model and the software structure, the development environment is built for embedded software developing. Linux OS, embedded database and FTP server are transplanted to the central unit to meet the requirement. To realize communication by CAN bus, the CAN bus interface device driver on Linux OS is implemented. Aimed at the characters of control object, the control program for BLDC motor using single neuron adaptive PID algorithm is worked out. At last a testing platform including several CAN nodes is built to testify the reliability of the control system.Connecting central unit based on ARM/Linux and terminal units based on DSP by CAN bus gives a reference structural model for embedded distributed measurement and control system. The realization for advanced functions such as embedded database and FTP server presents a practical plan for complex measurement and control system.
