Semantic Web-based Information Retrieval

In traditional information retrieval way, because the information lacks the semantic description, users are difficult to find the information they need. How to enable the information to have the application procedure understandable meaning and realize semantic retrieval, these questions are the challenges which the information retrieval domain faces.Semantic Web is next generation World Wide Web which proposed by World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee in 2000. In Semantic Web, every resource has unique identifier, and there are semantic relations between resources. The Semantic Web is an extension of current Web in which information is given well-defined meaning and makes computers and people work in cooperation.Aims at key techniques of semantic retrieval system, the dissertation gives our solutions which establish the theory basis for implementation of a semantic retrieval system. These key techniques include domain ontology construction, semantic labelling and index, inquiry expansion and semantic inference. Based on this, the dissertation proposes a framework of semantic information retrieve system based on Semantic Web. It also describes design idea and process of the semantic information retrieval system in detail.Finally, the dissertation develops a semantic retrieval inference prototype system which is based on Ontology under the semantic Web environment, its goal is mainly the exploration of realizing semantic retrieval, and accumulating correlation theories and technic for realizing practical semantic retrieval system.
