Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) is a new kind of microwave transmission line in these years which can be widely used in microwave and millimeter wave circuit. The substrate integrated waveguide has advantages of both of the rectangular waveguide and the microstrip, such as: high Q, low loss just like rectangular waveguide; small size, low profile, low cost, easy to be integrated like microstrip. The basic concept of SIW is that it use the top and bottom layers of metal together with two row of vias It acts like a rectangular waveguide filled with some dielectrics, so components which can be composed by rectangular waveguide can also composed by SIW such as antenna, filter, power divider, coupler, diplexer.This dissertation introduced substrate integrated waveguide and microstrip transition firstly, and offered a kind of fast design method which combine the equivalent modeling and HFSS software. Secondly, by transferring the design method of the conventional waveguide filter to the substrate integrated waveguide, this essay designed substrate integrated waveguide metallized via hole bandpass filter at the center frequency of 14.25GHz with 3.5ï¼…relative bandwidth and tested it. This part also designed a new bandpass filter named substrate integrated waveguide dielectric post bandpass filter by using dielectric post in substrate integrated waveguide. Then analyzing the characteristic of substrate integrated waveguide H-T, E-T and double Tee, and test the substrate integrated waveguide H-T. Finally, substrate integrated waveguide magic Tee was designed based on the analysis of substrate integrated waveguide H-T, E-T and double Tee, followed by discussing the characteristic and matching of substrate integrated waveguide magic Tee.
