The Future Development Of Public Service Broadcastiong In Hong Kong

RTHK is the only Public Service Broadcasting in Hong Kong, which has established for 79 years. In the past 20 years, RTHK has been studied by Hong Kong government, including the review by Committee On Review Of Public Service Broadcasting in 1984, however, a series of questions have not been solved which involve what the role is and how develops of RTHK, so that the dispute is always produced by RTHK's programme and the relationship with the government. In addiction, the government did not want to deal with the concerning of RTHK came from different parties, so made 782 staffs feel nervous. Hereby, how the future of RTHK? This is a problem, since 17th January 2006, the government has appointed the Committee On Review Of Public Service Broadcasting to study the future of RTHK, there are much significant discussion on RTHK's reformation and the role or future of Public Service Broadcasting in Hong Kong. This paper used some materials relating to the experience of Oversea Public Service Broadcasting as reference, to demonstrate by the internal date of RTHK, the poll result from Public Research Centre in The Asia Study Department of Chinese University, and the report of Committee On Review Of Public Service Broadcasting in March 2007. Besides, in this paper also used the analytical method according to statistical date given by some materials, through these ways, to do the further discussion on the role and future development of RTHK, and make some suggestion for this topic.
