Research About Software Process Based On Data Modeling And Its Metric Method

The concept, method and practice about process management and consistent process improvement have been widely accepted by the software industry. And more and more software organizations increase the quality and the productivity of the software product by standardizing and improving the software process. By measuring people obtain the process's quantity data and information, which support the process management decision making and provide the reasons for process improvement.This paper analyses the domestic status quo of software development process and software metric in software enterprise. It points out that when considering the reasons for the failure of software measuring, the following factors should be taken into account: the first reason is that people demand various data for measuring; the second reason is that there is no standard process of measuring to be followed; the third is that many metric methods do not combine with some concrete software development processes and the rule of the operation seams too complex; the fourth is that there is no some structural and formalized way to explain he result of the metrics. This paper brings forward a set of software process base on data modeling, which is controllable, measurable and accommodates the character and custom of the software enterprise and provides software process model based on data modeling (PMBDM), so as to overcome the above four malpractices. What is more, based on PMBDM, this paper advances the methodology of software metric, which helps to drive the theory and practice of software process management and software metrics forward.
