The Multimedia Realize And Manage Of OSCAR Database

Multimedia data is a synthesis of multimode data including text,image,audio,video data etc, and multimedia database is the primary tool to manage the multimediadata. With the development of both information technology and digital technology,more and more new type media data become available to a large public, and with theexplosive growth of the application in multimedia and digital av technique, there haswitnessed some popular computer application in digital library,long-distance teachingand so on. Traditional database manage system has been confronted with the newchallange to deal with these new media data. How to achieve more efficient andeffective management of these new type media data, has become the major problemthat the traditional database manage system need to address.As with other traditional database manage system , the OSCAR database, whichwas developed to resolve the data security for our country, has also faced thechallenge of managing these new media data. To figure out the hard problem ofmultimedia data management in OSCAR database, is substantial for improving itswhole technical level. This paper mainly discusses how we solve this problem inOSCAR.Starting from the basic knowledge of multimedia database, we first introduce theconcept of multimedia database and OSCAR database in Chapter 1, and thenfollowing by the introduction of the technique background for multimedia database,and enumerated three multimedia data such as image,audio,video data. The pivotaltechniques in the content based image search as well as user interface are the majorparts we focus on. Then we briefly review the implementation of multimedia modulein some main popular database management system, such as ORACLE,DB2 andSQL SEVER.In Chapter 3, we brief describe the process of analyze and design inOSCAR-MM, we started with the demand of user, and to design the structure of theOSCAR-MM. to introduce the image search module are the major parts we focus on,and introduce the algorithm realize of image retrieval based on color features. Throughdesign the function of distill the character message of media data and the function ofdata in-out, to feed back the character message to exterior manage tool, accordinglyimplement multimedia module in OSCAR, which is also the core technique forimplementation of OSCAR-MM. In Chapter 4, We give a test of the image datainterface and user interface,performance. We present the concluding remarks andfuture works in Chapter 5.With the ever-growing development of multimedia database techniques, therehas witnessed several major breakthrough in new techniques. In this paper, wemainly discuss the basic function implementation for OSCAR-MM. There is a longprogress to make to achieve the world-class advancement level in multimedia databasemanagement technology, which need us further research and exploration.
