Field rescaling has wide applications in computer graphics and it is meaningfulto rescale a field with feature preservation. However, the simple uniform rescalingmay lead the loss of original features. In this paper, we present a simple and fastnonuniform rescaling method to solve the problem. In chapter one, we firstly introduce the application background of field rescalingin computer graphics and some problems exist, then simply summarize some methodsthat have been used in some of the rescaling applications.Chapter two is the an important part of the paper. In this chapter, we present asloution to the 1D resacling problem. We begin filed rescaling with a simplemonotone curve, and a rescaling function to derived, then scaling functions forcomplicated curves are formulated by the composition of interval mapping andmontone curve rescaling. To deal with the discrete data, we should first denoise, thenrescale. In chapter three, we present method to rescale 2D images with featurepreservation. We introduce what features should be preserved in a 2D image first, thenextend the 1D approach to 2D situation and create a 2D rescaling funciton. At last, wepresent several examples in this chapter.
