Ultra-wideband impulse radio has become one of the hot fields of wireless communications research,and the receiver in the whole design of Ultra-wideband systems is the focus. In order to develop fully the characteristics of ultra-wideband pulse signal, such as the high transmission speed, low energy consumption, safety, anti multi-path capabilities. So it is important for using the appropriate signal detection equipment. Based on the analysis of a wide range of wireless communications technology for receiving, one correlation receiver is designed for ultra wideband impulse radio system.Compared with traditional wireless communications technology, ultra-wideband system has its different characteristics. In this paper , Ultra-wideband systems is preliminary expatiated in Chapter 1,Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. It is more comprehensive about ultra wideband systems theory, structure and the current research status for the transmitter and receiver, and the Ultra-wideband channel model is described. The foundation is laid for the study of Ultra-wideband impulse radio in the following chapters.The correlation receive technologies is the key of Ultra-wideband system design, base on the characteristics of Ultra-wideband pulse. In Chapter 4 of this paper, the correlation technology is analyzed detailedly. In other hand, some different correlation detection ways are compared. The technology of auto-correlation reception and correlation reception is analyzed carefully to find the best scheme for ultra-wideband receiver, and the performance simulation is completed.As the correlation reception technology has been analyzed, In this paper, the design schemes of Ultra-wideband impulse radio receiver are considered practically, the base correlation receiver schemes and the Rake receiver schemes are proposed in Chapter 5. In addition, base on the characteristics of Ultra-wideband multipath channel, a new quadratic correlation frame of Rake receiver is presented. The structure is testified effective by performance simulation.In Chapter 6, according to the appropriate design scheme of ultra-wideband impulse radio receiver, the demands of Ultra-wideband circuit design are considered fully, and actual circuit of Ultra-wideband receiver is designed. Finally, the important circuits are explained and the synchronous control procedure is expatiated detailedly. The early-later gate synchronous scheme is improved, and the new code is written for the synchronous system, so it works more reliable and stable.
