With the high-speed development of the techgology of commucation and network, embedded system is widely adpoted in various fields, such as science research, military technology, engineering design, consuming electron, and so on. In this paper, by using embedded system in Broadcast TV Vocation,according to the system requirement ,a unitary project design for the bidirectional communication gateway of the CATV network based on the kernel of ARM7 CPU were done. At the same time a software based on this syetem was designed and implemented,achieve the destine target through validate.The reasons we used the ARM7 are that we can make good use of the point of low waste of power,suit for the embedded system that we designed must run without no poweroff for a long time, in other side make good use of it's little cubage for the convenient of the system standardized products and have upper comparation between capability and price.According to the characteristic and application domain of the popular embedded operating system, such as uC/OS-II, Windows CE, Linux, especially Linux system with open sound code, the design and implemention was successly achieved, including the building of transplant environment, transplanting and modifying of the Bootloader, tansplanting of the Linux kenel, The customization and transplantation of the file system of Linux was finished, reworking of network card drive, designing and compiling of the software for protocol transition, futher more, the relating design methods and detail implement steps were given in this paper.
