With the rapid development of information technology and computer network, embedded system has being more and more widely used in science research, military, engineering and consumer electronic, etc. In this paper, the characteristics, application and development of embedded system have been studied. ARM processor which occupies mainstream in the application of embedded system is analyzed and discussed The operation modes, the settings and distributing of register in ARM processor have been studied. From the viewpoint in application, the system structure of EP7312 processor in ARM core has been analyzed in detail.In operation system, the characteristic and application field of uC/OS-II, Windows CE, Linux are studied. The emphasis of the study is put on embedded Linux operation system which code is free. The research on the Linux operation system includes process management, interrupt response and disposal. The mechanism of Embedded Linux kernel and techniques of devices driver are developed. Embedded Linux transplanting techniques are researched, which include setting a transplanting condition, transplanting Bootloader and Embedded Linux kernel. The detail process of transplanting has been given. The resource of an ARM-EP7312 core block is analyzed in detail, and the function of Bootloader is realized accurately. The software exploitation environments are described. Transplantation of Linux kernel has been finished. The application program for serial communication and LCD display is presented and serial communication and LCD display is realized in EP7312 developing board.
