Recently, along with fast development of modern micro-electronics, MEMS, system-on-chip(SoC), wireless communication, computer network and Internet, the technology of acquiring information by sensor developed from single to integration, micromation, even to intelligent and network. It becomes one of the most important and basic technology of information acquisition. And it has been risen to a new way of information acquisition—Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN).WSN is one of the spreads of Ad hoc networks. It was born from military purpose, but now it has been used in many domains of industry, life-time, environmental monitoring etc. Since WSN is multifunctional and reliable, it adapt to monitoring real-time target in the remote, terrible, and even dangerous environment. Because of the limitation of environment condition, the WSN even can not change its battery, we have to find a way to maintain it as long as possible.This paper introduce the WSN which has developed quickly recently, and proposes a design ideal which apply WSN and mobile communication networks in monitoring the pollution of drainage area. It designs a new frame for WSN's application in monitoring the remote water environment: integrated sensor terminator collect information of different pollution monitoring objects in drainage area in real-time and symbiotically. After simply fusing data, it can pass the results of information processing to the Internet through multi-hop communication by mobile communication network, even to the terminal users.On the base of this design ideal, this paper improves traditional network communication protocol in several ways on research hotspot of WSN's energy-efficiency, to prolong life of WSN. And prove it by network simulation experiment. The result proves the improved networks protocol not only prolongs the life, but also advance the quality of the networks.The ideal of monitoring pollution system which proposed in this paper, provides a new method for monitoring remote water environment. And it could be used for reference to other large area monitoring networks. On the other hand, the improved network communication protocol of WSN also could be used for reference to other protocol based on layer structure.
