In recent years, with the fast development of Internet technology and rapid popularization of Broadband, the quantity of netizen has increased rapidly. Various applicaton of Internet have emerged continously, such as: E-commerce, FTP download, and so on. The network traffic is increasing approximately by exponent. As a result, the higher responed speed of server is required. Normally,websites improve the performance of servers by updating the process speed of CPU of a single server ,by extending memory,even by purchasing a new server.However, it is dissatisfactory that the input be high while output be low.Web Cluster system and Load balancing technology have properties of reliability, scalability and manageability. It is a good high performance-price ratio project to resolve the problem by adopting the Web Cluster. Web Cluster system assigns requests to different web servers by loaded balancer. The operation is transparent to clients. Accordingly, the respond speed of website is increased, and the quality of service is improved.The research work derived from the practical application of the Web Cluster system of GUANGXI NORMAL UNIVERSITY PRESS.Aimed at the characteristics and function mechanism of three main requests of Web http requests,Ftp requests and Database query requests on websites,firstly the paper models and simulates four traditional load balancing algorithms which is Random algorithm,Round robin algorithm,the Least Connect algorithm and the Least Load algorithm by network simulating software Opnet ,also analysing the results of simulation; Then it puts forward a new self-adaptive algorithm,that is,automatically loading the best algorithm with the fastest respond speed according to the discrepancy of the Web requests.Lastly the paper gives a detailed description of the system structure and main processes about how to achieve the algorithm with load balancer.
