Research And Implementation Of The Integraton Of Mobile IP And MPLS

With the rapid development of technology, people gradually depend on mobile communication. Mobile IP(MIP) and Multi-Protocol Label Switching(MPLS) are the standards of IETF, the former is a route technology based on route tables, which can support the terminal's mobility; the latter is a label switching technology, which can provide good performance. The integration of MIP and MPLS can provide better performance for mobile communication.The thesis first introduces some research actualities of the integration between MIP and MPLS, and analyses two reference models: MIPv6oMPLS model and MIPv6 over Hierarchical MPLS model. In this thesis, we implement the prototype system of the first model on the Linux platform, test the performance of the prototype system, and validate the correctness and feasibility of the model.MIPL module is the implementation of Mobile IPv6 on the Linux platform, the thesis analyses the source code and describes the configuration of the module. Then the thesis introduces the prototype system of the integration in detail, and we build the test-bed network and validate the performances of the prototype system. The test conclusion is that the integrated system has better performance than the non-integrated system when there is no background payload in the network, but with the increase of the background payload, the new system does not show better performance.The thesis expands the research by implementing the prototype system of integration between NEMO and MPLS, and tests the performances as well as provides the conclusions.Another expansion research is that MPLS VPN supports the Mobile IP, and a new mechanism is supposed named MMVPN. At last, objective evaluation, insufficient and improvement are pointed out.
