With the rapid development of Internet, the wider use of multimedia, QoS becomes an important research topic in the Next Generation Network. It is great significant to realize an operational multi-services QoS management platform in the Internet.The project "Research on CNGI QoS Mechanism and Key Network-constructing Technique and Correlative Implementation" is one of the China Next Generation Internet project. It researches on the QoS mechanism on the next generation of the Internet, the feasibility of QoS management and the solution.The project uses traffic engineering technology in order to reduce network congestion and improve network performance and network utilization, with achieving the enhanced QoS capabilities and providing users better quality of service."The design and implementation on the traffic engineering function in CNGI QoS Management System" is a sub-project of "Research on CNGI QoS Mechanism and Key Network-constructing Technique and Correlative Implementation".It aims at designing a controllable and manageable traffic engineering architecture and setting up on the network, to realize the effective TE management and the routing path automated chosen and deployed without manual operations.Firstly, the QoS models and TE technology as the background are introduced, and the architecture of CNGI QoS management system is proposed.Secondly, the design of resource management layer in CNGI QoS system is discussed in detail, and the function of TE in resource management layer is given. Then the research and implementation of the controllable and manageable TE function is described in detail. It is the focus of the paper. The key points and the difficulty in the TE design are analyzed in detail, and the solution is given.In the end, the testing and validation scenario of the TE sub-system in CNGI QoS management system are described. And the objective evaluation, insufficient and the next step of the sub-system are pointed out.
